Step‑by‑Step Setup
Step 1 — Unbox & Verify
Check seals and contents. Connect the USB cable but do not install random browser extensions. Authentic devices will guide you to use the official Suite application only.
Step 2 — Go to the Official Start Page
Open your browser and navigate to Trezor.io/start. Avoid look‑alike domains or search ads; type the address or use your bookmark.
Step 3 — Install Trezor Suite
Download Trezor Suite for your operating system through links provided at Trezor.io/start. Install, then open the app. Suite will verify the device and offer to update firmware if needed.
Step 4 — Update Firmware & Connect
Follow on‑screen prompts. Confirm any updates on the device screen. If prompted to reconnect, do so and return to Trezor.io/start for guidance.
Step 5 — Create a New Wallet & Backup
Write Down the Recovery Seed
Your device will display 12–24 words in order. Write them on paper, legibly, and store in a safe, private location. Do not photograph, copy‑paste, or type them anywhere. Anyone with these words can control your funds.
Optional: Add a Passphrase
A passphrase acts like an extra word you choose. It creates a hidden wallet that only opens with that phrase in addition to the seed. Use something long and unique; store it separately from your written seed.
Step 6 — Add Accounts & Receive
In Suite, add accounts for the coins you plan to use. Receive into addresses generated on your Trezor and verify the full address on the device screen before sharing. Consider a small test transaction first.
Step 7 — Send Safely
When sending, double‑check the recipient address on your device display, not just on the computer. Confirm the amount and the network (e.g., BTC vs. testnet) before approving.
